Walleye from Lake Michigan has never been better when prepared with only four ingredients. When properly prepared, fresh walleye fillets are extremely delicate and light in color. However, baking walleye in the oven is the healthiest option.

Baked Walleye Recipe Ingredients - walleye fillets, white onion, olive oil and seasoned salt and pepper. Ingredients for a Baked Walleye Recipe

A piece of foil twice the size of a regular baking sheet should be cut. First, lay half of the foil on the sheet pan with the shiny side down and the dull side up.

The other half of the foil can then be folded over and sealed around the fish before cooking. Olive oil should be smeared on a sheet pan's foil.

Cover the fish entirely by folding the foil over it. Using the side of the folded foil that is facing away from you, roll the ends of the foil together. If you're using foil, fold it in half lengthwise, then roll up both ends to seal the fish inside.

The Time Required to Bake Walleye

Bake the sheet pan for 30 to 45 minutes in an oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

After 30 minutes, test the doneness of the walleye in the oven. Use a fork to try to flake the thickest part of the fish.

Ideally, the fish will be white and flake easily. In the event that the fillets still show signs of translucence or refuse to flake apart easily, they should be returned to the oven and cooked for an additional 10 to 15 minutes.

A Delicious Recipe for Walleye in the Oven

Sandwich recipe and nutritional info can be found at the link.

Freshly caught walleye is the star of this healthy and delicious oven-baked dish. This simple baked walleye recipe is ready in less than 45 minutes. Walleye from Lake Michigan has never been better when prepared with only four ingredients. Fresh walleye fillets are exceptionally tender and flake apart into a brilliant white when cooked.

  • Two pounds (973 grams) of walleye fillets.
  • White onion, sliced, 1/2 cup (1 25 oz) (35 g)
  • One table spoon of olive oil (or 0 55 oz) (16 g)
  • A half teaspoon of Lawry's seasoned salt (0 1 oz) (3 g)
  • 0.25 grams Morton's Seasoning Blend 05 oz) (1 g)
  1. Put together everything you need to bake walleye in the oven.
  2. Turn on the oven to 350 F.
  3. Take a regular baking sheet and use it as a template to cut a sheet of foil that's twice as big.
  4. Half of the foil should be used to cover the sheet pan, with the shiny side facing down. The other half of the foil can then be folded over the fish and sealed before cooking.
  5. Olive oil should be spread on the foil of a baking sheet.
  6. Oil a sheet of foil and sprinkle with some of the seasoned salt and pepper.
  7. Walleye fillets should be arranged in a single layer on the sheet pan and then placed on top of the seasoned oil.
  8. Give the fish fillets a final light coating of seasoning.
  9. Separate the onion rings and arrange them on top of the walleye fillets after slicing them into thin rounds.
  10. Bring the foil together and fold it over the fish to completely enclose it. Beginning on the uncreased side of the foil, roll the ends in toward each other. The fish is then rolled up in the foil and the ends are sealed.
  11. Mildly pierce the top of the foil packet with a sharp knife. Take care not to pierce the foil at its base.
  12. Walleye Baking Time
Bake the sheet pan for 30 to 45 minutes in a hot oven.
  13. After 30 minutes, test the doneness of the walleye in the oven. The best way to do this is to use a fork to attempt to flake the thickest part of the fish. The fish should flake easily and be a bright white color. If the fillets are translucent or don't want to flake apart easily, return them to the oven for another 10 to 15 minutes.
