Certainly, this is a possibility. If you're in a pinch and stuck in a hotel with only a microwave, I'll show you how to make delicious fish in under a minute. Make sure you have a microwave-safe dish with high sides or a shallow bowl to use once you've removed the fillets from their packaging.
- Put 1 lb fill your dish with frozen fish fillets (there will be liquid, so be prepared).
- Season with salt and pepper, then top with 1/2 cup diced tomatoes, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons water or broth.
- Put a plate over your food to keep the steam in while you do the dishes.
- Cook for 6 minutes, or until flaky and tender (exact cooking time will depend on the thickness of the pieces you use).
You guys are going to be blown away by how well this works. All you need is a lemon, some fillets, salt, black pepper, and whatever else you like to put on your food.

Freezing Fish in an Instant Pot
You could also use a pressure cooker if you wanted. In this case, fresh or frozen meat works just as well. Unusual perhaps, but the same rules apply when preparing frozen shrimp. Just place the fish on a seasoned trivet and cook it according to our Instant Pot instructions.

Overcooked fish is my worst cooking pet peeve. Remember that the temperature will rise by another 5 degrees or so while resting, bringing the safest part to 140 degrees F. To achieve the optimal doneness, a meat thermometer is a useful tool.
How big your pieces are will determine that. A typical cooking time will be around 20–25 minutes, or until the center is white and easily pierced with a fork. Crispy and juicy are both great, but flaky and tender is best.
